Thanks. The 'Nixon in China' theme was getting a little stale. It had stayed up for over a year -- the longest running theme for the site. And I ditched the scrolling headline bar because I noticed that it really turned the browser into a CPU hog. This new theme is more trim. Next step is to try to figure out a way for the site to keep track of what the newest messages are since your last visit.

I LOVE the fact that it "previews" the message text on the summary page.

Agreed. Any way to make the front page alternate between lighter and darker background tones, the way the individual message threads do? It's nice as is but that effect helps a bit, I think.

I'll mess around a bit and see what I can do.

Well, I did try playing with different color rows on the front page, but I wasn't very pleased with the way they looked, so I added a little extra space between the rows. Hopefully that'll be enough to help you differentiate between the different threads.

Ok. A bit of a compromise. Does that help?

Yeah, that'll work. It helps break up the threads.

DSF said, Next step is to try to figure out a way for the site to keep track of what the newest messages are since your last visit.Or even just the date of the most recent reply in a given thread would help. I do like the change...I was starting to wonder if we'd moved the site to China permanently.

quite nice. indeed, the very white of the text entry posting box is jarring. and many thanks for removing the scrolling top -- they're quite fun for a little while, but the CPU drain made things a little slow.

I've been klunking around with the backside of the site, trying to install this javascript menu bar for the text entry pages. Still haven't got it completely perfected, but it'll do for now. The menu bar makes it easier for bold type, italicized type, inserting hyperlinks, inserting bulleted and numbered lists, and inserting pictures. - list item 1
- list item 2
- list item 3
We'll see how that works out. Let me know if you run into any issues. (I also changed the background color to the ivory color from elsewhere on the site.)

I REALLY like being able to see the date and time of the last reply!!! Thanks a lot.
