I just published a long and detailed entry describing the elaborate 10-course meal they served in the first-class dining room of the Titanic on the night it sunk, nearly 100 years ago this week. Check it out.

Good LORD, that is quite a line up!! I have been on 4 cruises and never order something from every course because I can't physically eat all that food. I usually do an appetizer or salad (sometimes both, since they are usually small portions and lighter fare), the main course and a dessert.

Those folks on the Titanic must have been seated for dinner for 4 hours to eat all of that food (and, if each course came with its specially-paired wine, I suspect they were lucky to find their way back to their cabins after dinner!).

This entry on my blog got picked up by several high profile weblogs and newspaper blogs the other day, to honor the anniversary of the sinking.

My server logs pretty much show the incredible spike.

Sunday, 89 unique hits.
Monday, appeared on grow-a-brain and the morning news, 1577 unique hits.
Tuesday, appeared on kottke, neatorama, towleroad, fazed.net, slashfood, fark, ny times, linkfilter, la times, plus a few dozen smaller blogs. 15079 unique hits.

It's calmed down now, but the page still pulled in over 3000 new sets of eyeballs today.

A blip on the radar, for sure.

All times are ET (US)
