The AP News Wire seems too much like the Onion sometimes. "Everything seemingly is spinning out of control,"

which lists all the calamities and misfortunes that have befallen us lately, but the article points out that this isn't anything new. We've suffered periods of uncertainty in the past, and they've always been followed by more optimistic times ... "Of course, that doesn't mean it will happen again." Talk about optimism...

The western developed world, as a whole on average, is feeling pretty negative right now. Here in the States, folks views on the war, finance, elections are all pretty much doom and gloom..... and in many cases, it far exceeds the *actual* state of affairs. An article pointed out that on a sentiment poll, folks are feeling more negative than they have in decades - back when the interest rates and unemployment were double what it is currently.

Trouble is of course is that what people "feel" is important to the actual future results - and if folks keep feeling like its gonna suck, well, its gonna suck. Sadly, I don't think the election of either guy for Prez is going to turn that around. It would almost be worth voting for Obama if I thought his election would change it.
