Not that they've got much to spend. The Congress is about as loathed as the White House is at this point. It would be hugely popular though futile gesture.

True, the most recent poll had their approval rating at about 14 percent but that is a little misleading, people often hate Congress as a whole but like their representatives.

Over caution you say? Total lack of spine, balls or whatever you want to call it is more like it. The few who do show some are relegated to the FN party (Fucking Nuts) e.g Ron Paul. One must really wonder how his and Dennis K. districts continue to send them to Washington - if only other districts in the US would show the same guts to elect someone not on the basis of the amount of pork they will bring home.

Uber mom Sheehan, a Californian, officially announced that she intends to run as an independent against Pelosi in 2008 if the San Francisco congresswoman doesn't move to impeach Bush by July 23, the day she expects to reach Washington.

That officially moves her from the 'dedicated' column to the 'dumb' or perhaps 'crazy.'
Having lived in Pelosi's district, it is just stupid. I understand that she (Sheehan) was hurt more by the Iraq war than me but this is out of control. What-ever
I understand Mrs. Sheehan's disappointment with Pelosi et al, but she really needs to stay out of the limelight for a while in order to regain credibility -- if that is at all possible at this point. She would do the most good spearheading a campaign to barrage our representatives with letters. Not email or internet petitions. Real -- it takes a stamp to get there -- letters, letting them know that they do not stand a chance in hell of getting re-elected if they do not move to impeach.

One might argue that there isn't any time to regain credibility. Every additional death of a soldier in Iraq on this failed policy is in the balance. Meanwhile, the dunderheads on Capitol Hill keep moving the chess pieces across the board -- more like, checkers -- planning some big results to get Bush to bow to their whims.
And I know that if I stood out on my front porch and said I was gonna run against Nancy Pelosi, even if I could, I'd be lucky to get the attention of one of my cats. Sheehan still has enough name recognition to do what she's doing, even if she doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell of succeeding, and I'm sure she knows that full well. At least she's applying a little pressure and publicity where it might do some good.

So, do you think Pelosi is scared of Sheehan or do you think Sheehan is a big "so what" in Pelosi's mind?
And it's not as if Pelosi, all by herself, could accomplish anything, even if Sheehan did goad her into action.
I would like to put a stop to the war in Iraq, too, and I would prefer that all of this energy be directed towards something that at least has a miniscule chance of success.

No. I don't think Pelosi is scared. But the media attention about her inaction, as speaker of the house, on an issue most Democrats would like to see taken is definitely a thorn in her side.
