SimStuph - Objects

Hello! This is our Sim, Betsy Testor. We put Betsy in a nice bland black cinderblock house. We're going to be throwing all of the new objects at Betsy to see how well she deals with them and she will give us her honest, unbiased opinion. Hopefully, if we can figure out a way to dig apart the Sim coding enough, Betsy will eventually be done in by some fearful man-eating chair.

The Gray Flamingo

Ok, the Gray Flamingo's a bit of a cheat since I made it in the course of becoming familiar with the Sims Transmogrifier and the tutorial was on how to make a green flamingo. But hey, that was a green flamingo, this is a gray flamingo!!! World's of difference there baby!! Anyway.....let's see what Betsy thinks of her first new object......

Betsy's first reaction to the new Gray Flamingo was, well, not entirely favorable.....

In fact, Betsy soon thereafter felt it necessary to express her displeasure in a physical manner. All we can figure is that she was still under a lot of stress at getting her new job as object tester and from moving. We're quite certain that she will react better after a good nights sleep. We also have no doubts that your Sims will love the Gray Flamingo!!! Why not download now?!!

The Formika Crunchland Table

This is my first object made using Blueprint. There was quite a bit of learning curve to deal with (still is actually) and I had a hell of a time ironing out proper rotation for this thing, but overall I thought it came out rather well. In fact I liked it enough to go right out and buy two of them for Betsy....

...and that's when the trouble began. Even though I encouraged Betsy to walk around near the tables quite a bit, she refused to even acknowledge that they existed. I even tried buying her all kinds of fancy stuph so she wouldn't have to worry about comfort, food etc, and had plenty of time for looking at tables.

Unfortunately Betsy seemed much more obsessed with the Gray Flamingo and the Big Block of Wood (which was the first practice object I made with Blueprint). So, we'll be watching Betsy carefully, and if she continues to refuse to do her job, we're taking away the pool table. Anyway....go get some Crunchland Tables for your Sims!

The Glass and Marble End Table

Ok, as you can see I've been going a little more wild on the Blueprint primitives. While what one can make may be limited only by one's imagination....its also somewhat limited by box/sphere/cone/cylinder/text/disk/plane. Blueprint's still on its first version and doesn't yet feature things like cropping or deformation. So.....another table for now.

I concluded that perhaps Betsy may be getting a bit nervous having these untested experimental objects being introduced directly into her living quarters, so I built a separate, reinforced, secure testing room, separated by two doors and a hallway from the main residence. So far Betsy seems to be a bit happier with this arrangement.

Success! Betsy likes the new Marble and Glass End Table. I shoved her off into the testing room and she voiced her approval almost immediately.

After which, she almost immediately went all the way outside to check out the Gray Flamingo for something like the seventh time. She still doesn't seem to particularly like the Gray Flamingo, but for whatever reason she just can't seem to keep away from the damn thing. Anyway, go make your Sims look rich....get some Marble and Glass End Tables.

The HenryV Musical Pie

Musical pie? Musical Pie?? Yah I want a musical pie!!!!

Ok, why a musical pie? Somewhere on dub-dub-dub I found out that those kids at Northwestern U. had a class in tearing apart the Sims. One of the homework assignments was:

Create a new object by starting with an existing object, and significantly changing its behaviors and advertisements. Turn in your new object, along with a description of what your object does and why you chose to do it, what behaviors and advertisements it has, and how you tuned it to achieve the effect you desired.
And Henry V's response to this was:
New Object: talking pie
Existing Object: pie
What object does: talks
Behavioral Changes: it talks
Advertisements: It Talks!
And I thought to myself "Hey! Yeah! I can make a Talking Pie!!!" The I thought to myself for another minute and thought "no....wait, no I can't. No access to the 'talk' property. But dammit! I can make a musical pie!!" Voila, the HenryV Musical Pie was born.

Betsy digs the groovy Musical Pie. She wouldn't keep dancing for too long though since I think the Musical Pie was making her hungry, so she kept wandering off to the fridge.

I figured that the Musical Pie was so much fun that Betsy needed to have a party to show the Musical Pie to all of her friends. Unfortunately when everyone came over they all stood around outside (nice night out or something). So after Betsy went to bed I spruced up the yard and moved the pie outside.

Betsy had another party after the maid had cleaned up after the first one, people came, people dug the Musical Pie.

At one point during the night, the Pie got people so riled up that things actually turned violent. So much for playing Dead Kennedys on the Musical Pie.

In the end though, the Pie was a wild success. Get your Sims partying down with their friends to their own HenryV Musical Pie
